I am 21 and soon to be a Journalism graduate. I am from a town called Baia Mare, in the region known as Maramures, from a cute little country called Romania.
I grew up near grandma Florica (which means flower in English) and her pots. She was the chef of the neighborhood, always cooking at weddings, at birthdays or any celebrations. Her biggest help was the old stove - it never failed her. She always made traditional dishes, such as an omlet or a pound cake full of walnuts (a Christmas must taste!). I took from her the respect for food, the understanding of the fact that love truly is a very important ingredient into a successful meal. I learned to always wash the dishes right after I emptied their content, because it's so much easier (she was right!). Spending so many years near her, watching her work like a bumblebee, it was so inspiring for me. It made me understand how rewording cooking is. It doesn't matter if you do it for your loved ones or for someone from your neighborhood. You, with the two hands God gave you, can create something that makes people happy and content. Eating is so important! It is as important as breathing. Starting from the milk from the mothers breast up until the last bite of home made chocolate, it is a huge part of our lives.
I think that with moderation anything is allowed. So I like rich, full of flavor foods. I love sweet creams and soups full of sour cream. But I also like salads, fish, a light muffin, fruits and vegetables of all sizes and colors.
Hopefully my blog will make you love cooking - if you don't by now. I want to show you that anyone, and I mean ANYONE can cook. With a little bit of training and a piece of advice, cooking will become a piece of cake. A light, delicious piece of cake.
Enjoy darlings!
